Etüde. Allegro con brio in g minor
This is one of three piano works Fanny Hensel wrote in the summer of 1838. During this summer, Fanny’s brother Felix Mendelssohn was staying with the family in Berlin, and the influence of his presence on Fanny’s compositions during this period is perhaps most obvious in this piece, which directly quotes his Piano Concerto No. 2 in fantasy-like departures from the piece’s virtuostic arpeggios.
